our story
Hi and welcome. I’m your (remote) host, Elizabeth.
Finekettle House was built by my grandfather in the late Sixties just before Smith Mountain Lake reached full pond. Ever since then, the house been a gathering place for our family and a witness to engagements, birthdays and holidays, as well as swimming and boating adventures, spirited board games, several (unsuccessful) attempts at an under-12’s badminton tournament, an addition to the house by my mother, the launching of the floating docks & building of the walkway by my dad, and everything in between. For three generations it has been the gathering place of our family, and we now love sharing it as a vacation rental.
Today, we promise all of our guests that Finekettle will be for you what it has always been for us - a lovingly maintained, spacious and comfortable home situated on one of Smith Mountain Lake’s most beautiful coves, with stunning views, a fully stocked kitchen, and plenty of space indoors and out for making memories to last for generations.
If you have questions about the house or a stay at Finekettle, feel free to get in touch. I will be happy to help.
